Emily Irene VanCamp who initially wanted to become a professional dancer became interested in acting after she met her sister Katie on the set of the movie Ladies Room. Her career in acting began when she started taking classes. Also, she got the opportunity to appear in shows from her native Canada. She starred, among other shows, in the series Are You Fearful of the Dark? Radio Active. VanCamp's career took off after being cast as Sam Dolan, a regular on WB Horror Mystery Glory Days. Though the show garnered positive reviews, its low ratings led to it being cancelled after just nine episodes. The May 12th, 1986 actress was quickly offered a second part in Everwood. Her character Amy Abbott is one of the major characters. The role she played in the film was rewarded with 4 Teen Choice Awards nominations and the Young Artist Award.
